Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso Make WNBA History Against Atlanta Dream
By Max Escarpio,
2024-07-10Chicago Sky rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso made personal history in the team's 78-69 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday. Reese finished the game with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Cardoso posted 10 points and 11 boards.
The rookies recorded their third game with joint double-doubles. There had never been another rookie duo in the WNBA to have more than two games in which both posted double-doubles. It's fitting to have the "Chicago Skyscrapers" earn the record, per StatMamba on X.
Reese stands at 6 feet, 3 inches, and Cardoso is listed at 6 feet, 7 inches. Both have established themselves as the best rookies on the glass -- an incredible feat since they play alongside one another.

Reese is the only rookie averaging a double-double on the season: 14.1 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. She leads the league in rebounds while being No. 2 in average scoring on the Sky.
Cardoso has averaged 8.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She's one of the tallest players in the WNBA and has a knack for scoring around the basket while using her frame to clean the glass.
These two rookies could headline a very special team in Chicago. The Sky have a few first-year chess pieces: Reese, Cardoso and head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. They are seventh in the overall WNBA standings at 9-12.
